Every time I open a dating app, I brace myself. Not because dating is scary, but because I know I’m about to be personally victimized by the lineup of men confidently showing interest in me.
And I just need to talk about it.

There’s a very specific kind of anger that comes from seeing profiles that make you pause and think, how did we end up here. Not because anyone is unattractive as a human being, but because the math simply is not mathing.
The Algorithm Is Not Listening
Dating apps love to say they’re learning your preferences. But if that were true, explain why I’m still being shown:
Blurry group photos where I can’t identify the person
Sunglasses in every single picture
Bios that say “Just ask” and nothing else
At a certain point, it feels less like matchmaking and more like sabotage.
Confidence Is Loud, Compatibility Is Quiet
The wildest part is the confidence. The enthusiasm. The immediate interest. And yet, absolutely zero alignment.
Attraction isn’t just about looks. It’s about lifestyle, effort, energy, and awareness. And when none of that lines up, the disconnect becomes painfully obvious within seconds of opening the app.
Dating App Fatigue Is Real
This is why people burn out. It’s not rejection. It’s not being single. It’s the mental gymnastics of scrolling through profiles that feel so far removed from what you’re actually looking for.
You start questioning:
Is my profile giving the wrong impression?
Are my standards unrealistic?
Or is the algorithm simply unserious?
Spoiler: it’s the algorithm.
Final Thoughts
Dating apps can be entertaining, humbling, and exhausting all at once. And sometimes, the best thing you can do is laugh, close the app, and remember that real-life chemistry still exists outside of a swipe.
If you’ve ever opened
Until next time…
Cheers Lovelies!
