I know what you all are thinking…Valentine’s Day is RIGHT around the corner and you have ZERO date ideas.
Lucky for you, you have me. 🙂
And the best thing about having me is that I’ve concocted a huge list of fun, romantic and unique Valentine’s Day (and Valentine’s Day night) date ideas!!

Also, let’s pause for a second – does anyone else love Valentine’s Day because every place you go to magically turns red and pink!?!?
During this time of year, I always feel like I’m living in one of my childhood dreams.
I mean, for a second you’re living in a Christmas/New Year’s winter wonderland when shopping at Target and then BOOM, love and cupid is all around.
Anyway, let’s get back on track here.
Valentine’s Day is among us and we’ve got to be ready for it!
It’s time we step up our game this holiday season with the creativity of these inexpensive, but super fun and memorable, Valentine’s Day dates!
Side Note: It doesn’t matter if you’re in a relationship or not!
These fun date ideas can be for anyone who’s:
- Single and ready to mingle
- Single and not searching
- Coupled up
- Somewhere in-between!
Don’t let your single life stray you away from celebrating a holiday of love because everyone deserves to be and feel loved on this day.
Especially your pets – Don’t forget to get that good boy of yours (talking about your dog, lol) a V-Day treat for being the best partner around!
Pro Tip: If you are single or want a GNO with your girls on this holiday, get your gal pals together and celebrate Valentine’s Day as Galentine’s Day!
The best part about these cute date ideas is that you can do them alone, with someone or with a group of people! I’d prefer the latter two though!!!
*If you want to get ahead of the game and find a partner to share V-Day with, then you’ll want to freshen up on your dating app game!
Now, the moment everyone’s been waiting for, let’s talk about these not so cliché / nor cheesy date ideas.
Go Ice Skating
Grab your partner and go to a cute ice skating rink for a couple hours.
Once you’re done skating, head over to a local coffee shop and grab some hot chocolate!
What a perfect, fun-filled day!
Jenna’s Top Tip: If you want to make this date a little more special, get her a gift she can wear when she ice skates!
Consider these adorable red and pink Valentine’s Day socks!
Make A Bonfire
This is the perfect evening date!
Snuggle up by your loved one and enjoy the warmth of the fire.
Don’t forget to add s’mores though!
Jenna’s Top Tip: Bonfires can get super hot on your hands if you are roasting s’mores close to the flame! Consider using extendable marshmallow roasting sticks.
This way you can relax on your chair and not have to worry about getting your marshmallow right in the flame.
Have A Netflix and Chill Night
Obviously this is a date idea because, I mean…it’s the typical “movie night”.
I would definitely have this idea on the back-burner, like for plan E or F if plans A-D don’t work out.
But if you do go this route for V-Day, let’s make it a movie night that’s memorable!
Maybe make her/him dinner before the movie or eat dinner during the movie!
and clearly we need wine, so get wine. Like two bottles.
*Upgraded:
Okay, yes add the dinner and wine but then guess what?
We are going to add a spin to the “movie night.”
The movie that you pick for them, is actually…a HOMEMADE MOVIE!
Meaning it’s a movie that you put together for them to watch on Valentine’s Day!
HOW STINKIN’ CUTE IS THIS IDEA? YOU GUYS, OH MY GOD.
This could be made on iMovie or just use the slideshow effect on your iPhone Albums.
- Create an album of photos and videos of you guys together
- Add a heartfelt video message before the video starts and before the video ends
- Watch them cry tears of joy
- Thank Jenna Haith Lifestyle
Go On A Bike Ride
Map out a fun trail for you and your significant other to bike around for the day.
Not only does this give you time outside and exercise, but it also allows for great scenic photo opportunities!
Jenna’s Top Tip: If you want to make it easier to look at your phone’s GPS when biking, check out this cool Phone Mount gadget that attaches to your bike’s handle bars!
Go On A Picnic
This is a classic date idea but, unfortunately outdoor picnic’s depend on weather.
If you are living in a nice, warm area then this is perfect for you – especially if you do a picnic on the beach! So romantic! 😉
But for all my friends that get to experience the cold and snow during the winter months, you might want to stick to a cozy indoor picnic instead.
I mean, unless you’re willing to freeze your butts off, IDK, you do you!
Jenna’s Top Tip: Make your picnic a little different by adding some Valentine’s Day themed foods like dark chocolate strawberries! MY FAV!
Go Dancing
Want a fun night out that’s not the routine “drinks at a bar” scene? Try going dancing!
You can Google “Couple Dance Classes Near Me” and it’ll pop up with so many places that offer dance classes.
If you don’t want to go out dancing you can always make your living room a dance studio!
Grab a fun YouTube video, like the one below, and get to steppin’!
If you’re looking to spice things up with a hip-swayin dance, try Salsa dancing!
Here’s a great tutorial if you want to learn the basics:
Go To Dinner and Drinks
The traditional dinner and drinks date is so overused.
Remember, this date night is supposed to be different because it’s Valentine’s Day!!!
Maybe take your person to a place they’ve never been to but always wanted to go!
Jenna’s Top Tip: Create a plan of going to drinks, appetizers, dinner and dessert all at different restaurants!
Schedule reservation times for each place and take your special someone for a night out on the town!
This a fun way to change up the scenery for the night and experience new places.
*If you are taking someone out on a first date, I’ve got some GREAT tips to calming those first date nerves!
Create A Themed Dinner At Home
How about we change the dinner and drinks up a little more?
Let’s make it more attractive and make it a themed dinner…cooked AT HOME!
Try spicing things up in the kitchen and making your Valentines Day dinner a Mexican Fiesta or, my favorite, an Elegant Evening Meal.
Grab your partner and cook dinner together OR cook for your partner and await the big reveal!
Once dinner is cooked and ready, both parties get changed into theme attire and meet at the dinner table.
I can see it now:
“Party for two, please.” The couple said to the dog.
Dog is dressed in a black suit and walks couple to an incredible dinner table set up – candles, wine, and fresh bread.
*Smooth Jazz plays softly in the background*
*Couple waits for server to come grab their drink order.
*Couple forgets that they aren’t at a real restaurant.
Ok, sorry, maybe you don’t have to role play this dinner but it could be fun!!
Moving on…
Make A Candy Store Run
Make a trip with your SO (significant other) to your favorite candy store. Grab a bunch of your favorite’s and bring it all back home!
Jenna’s Top Tip: Get a big bowl and dump the candy in there. Set up a movie, light the fireplace and don’t forget about the wine!
**Scroll back up to V-Day Date Tip Number 3, “Netflix and Chill (*Upgraded)“, for movie night inspo!!!
Go Shopping
Alright, us girls can all agree on this one.
If our man plans a SHOPPING SPREE on V-Day…welp, you already know they’ll be too busy to check their bank account that night.
Take your SO to a boutique that they’ve never been to, or a fun shopping mall or plaza!
Jenna’s Top Tip: Make sure you have a plan in place for this “shopping day.”
There might be more people out and about than you think so plan accordingly for timing!
Especially if you plan to stop somewhere for lunch, drinks or dinner!
Sing Karaoke
What fun this will be!
- Does your SO enjoy singing?
- Does your SO enjoy being the center of attention?
Then this will be a night they’ll LOVE!
Go out to a fun karaoke bar and reserve a time slot with their favorite song.
*Warning – your SO will most likely bring you up on stage with them. So be aware.
Jenna’s Top Tip: Don’t want to leave your house on Valentine’s Day? No need. You can still have a cute karaoke set-up right in your living room!
Check out this super cool, disco Karaoke machine!
Visit The Dog Park
Remember, Valentine’s Day is for everyone so don’t forget to take your pet out for some lovin’ on V-Day!
You can make it a fun day trip with your partner and bring some lunch, a speaker for music and lawn chairs!
Relax and watch your dog(s) play while catching up with your partner.
Jenna’s Top Tip: Don’t forget to bundle up if it’s cold where you live! I’d recommend you bring some hand warmers so you don’t freeze!
Life hack – Don’t be afraid to put those hand warmers in your shoes for extra warmth!
Take A Fun Cooking Class
Take a cooking class with your loved one on Valentine’s Day!
This is such a fun event that mixes 2 of the best things in life – food and love!
Research “Cooking Classes on Valentine’s Day” and there should be a bunch of classes that pop up!
Make sure to review the cooking class instructions and guidelines and reserve your spot soon!!
If you don’t want to go in-person, you can always sign up for online cooking classes.
Here are some fun online cooking class videos you can choose from – and it’s free!
Have A V-Day Bake-Off
Valentine’s Day edition bake-off. How fun does that sound!?!
I love baking desserts so you know I’m in on this one!
This is how it goes:
- Each person finds a dessert to bake
- Go to the store and buy the necessary ingredients to make your dessert
- Once back home, set up all the necessary equipment you need
- You can have this be a timed competition or not
- Start baking!
Jenna’s Top Tip: Make this bake-off more memorable by crafting some homemade aprons to wear!
Necessary items:
- Buy two plain aprons
- Get some fabric paint and paint brushes
Don’t forget to take photos of each other and your desserts!
This is a fun filled date idea that puts both people in the kitchen at one time.
You may need to rethink this idea if your kitchen isn’t suitable for two bakers to be working.
Otherwise, get ready for a yummy event!
*Warning, your kitchen might be a disaster once competition is over.
Have A Spa Day and Movie Night
Sometimes the holidays can be stressful…so maybe for Valentine’s Day this year we move towards just a relaxing night in (or day in!).
If your partner seems stressed out, make this special V-Day a spa day/night!
Grab some essential oils, candles (check out my favorite smelling candle below), and a movie.
Pamper yourselves together while watching your favorite Rom-Com!
There’s nothing better than a self-care day on Valentine’s Day! 🙂
Jenna’s Top Tip: Get yourself a mini projector and set up a white bedding sheet (or get yourself a projector screen) on a blank wall.
Pick out a few of your fav movies and watch it on the “big screen”!
You can attach your laptop, Xbox, DVD Player, Phone, etc. to the projector and watch some Netflix, Hulu, HBO Go, Amazon Prime Movies, etc.. (There are so many streaming platforms now, LOL! I can’t keep up!!)
Also, this is one of the BEST smelling candles you can get:

I hope these V-Day date ideas help you figure out your plans for Valentine’s Day this year.
If you end up using any of them, let me know how it goes!
