Alright all you lovebirds, it’s time to expose the dating app game.
There are hundreds of dating apps but let’s talk about the 3 best ones and how they compare.
So, what’s the best dating app? Well, let’s start with the most popular.
TINDER

.
Yep. Let’s start with this one, shall we? So for those who don’t know this app, I’ll give you a brief summary.
According to Wikipedia:
“Tinder is a geosocial networking and online dating application that allows users to anonymously swipe to like or dislike other profiles based on their photos, a small bio, and common interests. Once two users have “matched”, they can exchange messages.”
So, that’s wiki’s description, let me tell you mine, based on my experiences and having the app since 2013. Ha.
Alright, this is the app people like to call “The Hookup App”. If you’re just trying to have a one-night stand, then go download this app and get to swiping.
HOWEVER, based on MY EXPERIENCE, I can tell you that this isn’t 100% true anymore. Yes, it’s primarily hook-up-based but lowkey, many women (and I’m sure men) use this app to legit go on dates and meet people. 🤷♀️
This app has probably everyone you know on it so I can guarantee you that you will see someone you know while swiping through.
According to Good Housekeeping, Tinder has the highest number of users among all dating apps.
And hey, that’s a good thing!!
Maybe you’ll see your High School crush from 7 years ago on it and maybe you will match!!!!
Best. Feeling. EVER.
I don’t really see many cons to Tinder, but the main one I can think of is the profiles are super short so you don’t really know a whole lot about the person, which can make swiping through hundreds of profiles easier but harder, too.
Since you could easily swipe over someone’s profile that you could’ve matched with if you knew a bit more about them. :/
But other than that, I think Tinder is a great platform to have on your phone when you are bored, if you wanna just talk to someone, or get that one-time fix in, lol.
But if you’re like me, you’ll use it to actually meet up with guys and get to know them!
I can tell you that I’ve meet up with several guys on here and they actually wanted to get to know me (hey, that’s a plus!)
So try Tinder out!
If you download it, here’s a great article to help you through the setup and how to work your luck. 🙂

HINGE

.
Hinge is a great dating app, for sure! Like I totally recommend you download it.
It’s sort of the same thing as Tinder, but you have more information about yourself on your profile and you don’t “swipe” to like someone’s profile.
Instead, you must respond or like their photo or caption in order to tell that person, you’re interested.
It actually may be better than Tinder because this way you can see who’s liked you before matching with them back.
Maybe they send you a witty pick up line on one of your photos or captions and you might’ve not necessarily liked their profile while just scrolling through your feed, but because of their witty remark towards your profile, you’ll match with them back!
This gives people more of a chance to view people’s personalities instead of just by appearance.
Let me tell you what Wikipedia says about Hinge:
“Hinge is more relationship-oriented in its features compared to its competitors, with marketing efforts focusing on the app’s “designed to be deleted” branding.”
And I totally agree with that. But here’s my description –
This app is for people that are ACTUALLY looking to meet their next girlfriend/boyfriend/partner in life.
Hinge is way more serious than Tinder and I’ll tell you why.
So, I’ve had Hinge for only about a year or so but it has become one of my favorite dating apps because of all the features it has.
You literally have the options to have your personal facts about yourself posted on your profile.

For example (as you can see in the photos above):
- your religion
- political leaning
- if you want to have kids
- if you have kids already
- your height
- age
- where you work
- where you went to college
- where you live
- if you do drugs, smoke “that good good” lol, or smoke cigarettes, etc.
You can ALSO put preferences for what you are looking for (you have to pay for this feature).
For example, what type of person you are looking for, ethnicity-wise, height-wise, age, etc.
I don’t pay for that feature but some do and honestly, it could really narrow everything down. So it might be a good idea if you are really trying to find your mate!
But anyway, as you can tell, this app is serious.
Ironically though, I have yet to go on a date with someone from Hinge. Lol.
But I will for sure, just haven’t matched with the right dudes… yet!
But, I’ve had many friends that have to meet up with guys on Hinge and have had a great time! So definitely go for it!!
.
Pro Tip: When you get to the point in your Hinge conversation where he asks if he can get your number instead of chatting on the app, this is what you need to do:
Make sure you tailor your dating app contact info as something you can remember.
For example Many would save, “Jenna Hinge” as a contact name but what if you meet another Jenna??
What? It could happen!
So this Jenna Hinge meaning needs to have, well, a meaning to it!
So instead of putting “Jenna Hinge” as the contact name, maybe add more to it…like “Jenna Hinge – likes butterflies”.
This gives you something to remember that person by and it’ll spark a memory of why you even started talking to that person in the first place.
..
I think that more men (and women) are downloading Hinge now than ever before because I think they’ve figured out that they might not meet the “right person” on Tinder – but hey, sometimes you do!!
In Hinge’s words, “It’s the app that’s designed to be deleted”.
If you are looking for a serious relationship, download this app.
Here’s a little dating hack you can use before going on your first date!
BUMBLE
Credit: Bumble App on Apple App Store
Alright, so for those of you that don’t know about this app, Bumble is a dating app that’s meant to be “safer” and more on the women’s side of things.
What I mean by that is, women must make the first move before even allowing the man to message her.
Okay, maybe that was still confusing.
Here’s Wikipedia’s description:
“Bumble is a location-based social application that facilitates communication between interested users.
In heterosexual matches, only female users can make the first contact with matched male users, while in same-sex matches either person can send a message first.”
So pretty much, once you match with someone, the lady has 24 hours to message the man AND THEN, the man has 24 hours to message the lady back.
Like, let’s say, if the lady doesn’t get on the app within 24 hours after matching with the guy, then the match expires.
And even if she does message the man after matching, then the man HAS to get back on bumble within 24 hours and message her back in order to keep the match.
Like you pretty much have a time limit to match with someone. Which I think is dumb, honestly.
I don’t use Bumble for that exact reason. I did have it for a couple of months in College but that was to get free drinks if I downloaded it, haha.
But, hey, I actually did use it and try it out, it just wasn’t for me!
Like, if a guy wants to message me first, go for it! I don’t want to limit myself on the “timing of messages” to meeting someone.
But I must say, that Bumble is a great dating app for women to really be the first one to instigate the conversation.
Meaning, we have all the power (kinda).
Say we accidentally liked a guy’s profile and now we matched…Welp, we don’t have to be awkward when the guy messages you first and awkwardly have to “un-match them” like on other apps.
(Oh, come on. We’ve all done it at least once..)
Instead, we simply just don’t message them and then the time runs out!
This way it’s better for everyone’s ego. Because the man could think we just didn’t get on Bumble in the past 24 hours after matching. Like, oops! Sorry!
But then again, say we do match with the hottest guy ever and we message them but then they don’t see the message until their time has run out like that SUCKS!
Anyway, according to Good Housekeeping, Bumble users are more in the 26-35 age range.
So not really for those that are in your early 20s but that’s just my take on it!
I’m sure many women have had successful relationships with using Bumble.
So don’t rule it out until you try it!

Well, I’m sure you guys can tell which dating apps I have and still currently use and which one’s I don’t like, lol.
But it’s all up to you and what you are looking for!
So, yeah. That the top 3 best free dating apps. Based on user rate, It would be #1 Tinder, #2 Hinge, and #3 Bumble.
But, honestly, if I could rank them (based on my own preferences) it would be:
- Hinge
- Tinder
- Bumble
If you have been or are newly single, I would definitely recommend downloading one of these (or all 3) dating apps so you can get yourself back in the game!
I can also guarantee you that more than half of the people your age have one of these apps.
So it’s “not weird”. It’s really the new normal for meeting people nowadays!
