Turning 60 is a milestone worth celebrating, and when it came to planning a memorable birthday surprise for my mom, we decided to throw a 1960’s-themed bash at Pinot’s Palette on October 20th. The result? A night of nostalgia, laughter, and cherished memories.

The theme was ‘1960s,’ and we encouraged everyone to embrace the era by dressing in funky 60’s and 70’s outfits.

The moment guests started arriving in their hilarious ensembles, we knew it was going to be a night to remember.

60th Birthday Decorations

To transform the private room at Pinot’s Palette into a time machine to the ’60s, we scoured Amazon for groovy decorations, from tie-dye banners to vintage posters and peace sign necklaces, colored sunglasses, and flower crowns!

The room came alive with the vibrant colors and bold patterns that defined the era.

What really tied the decor together was the custom-made napkins from Imprint that I created specifically for the event! Check them out below!

60th Birthday Cake

What’s a birthday celebration without balloons, delicious food, and cake? A big shoutout to Cosentino’s Price Chopper for their incredible bakery and deli staff who went above and beyond in helping us prepare a feast that was both delicious and beautifully presented.

I ordered a custom 1960s Groovy Cake from Price Chopper and they definitely delivered, featuring the groovy pink, yellow, and red flowers!! Check how it came out below!

60th Birthday Ideas

There are so many fun themes and celebratory events you can come up with for a 60th Birthday. Since my mom was born in the 1960s, it was evident that we HAD to plan a 60s-themed party! Not only did we incorporate her birth year, we also decided to think of one of her favorite hobbies – painting! My mom loves to express her creativity through painting so the best choice was to do a paint and sip at Pinot’s Palette!

The planning of this surprise took some hard work and dedication to pull it off. After months of planning and communication with her guests and the Pinot’s Palette staff, it ended up being one of the best birthday celebrations!

But the real star of the evening was Pinot’s Palette’s artist instructor, Sarah. She embodied the spirit of the ’60s – fun, entertaining, and incredibly kind. Sarah not only guided us through the painting session but also added an extra layer of joy to the evening.

As the night progressed, our painting session turned into a karaoke session, and with each brushstroke, we belted out tunes from the ’60s, sipping on wine and enjoying the occasional shot delivered to us from the Pinot’s Palette bar.
